The REPETO Project is excited to announce the opening of the 2025 Summer of Reproducibility (SoR) Call for Projects! This NSF-funded initiative, in collaboration with UC Santa Cruz’s Open Source Research Experience (OSRE), connects mentors with students globally to advance practical reproducibility in computational science.

About the Program

The Summer of Reproducibility empowers students to work on open-source projects that make research experiments replicable and reusable. Since its 2023 launch, the program has supported over 40 students and 50 mentors across disciplines like machine learning, genomics, and networking. Mentors—researchers, faculty, or industry professionals—propose projects that teach reproducibility best practices, streamline artifact creation, or integrate replicable experiments into education.

Selected students (SoR Fellows) receive stipends to collaborate with mentors over the summer, gaining hands-on experience while contributing to the reproducibility movement.

How to Participate

Mentors are invited to:

• Submit project ideas by Feb. 23, 2025. Proposals should outline tasks that advance reproducibility, such as improving artifact documentation, developing reproducibility tools, or replicating prior studies. • Guide students through project design and implementation.

Project ideas will be published on the OSRE 2025 webpage, where students worldwide will draft proposals for specific projects.

Students are then matched with mentors based on qualification and interest. The project work period runs from June 2025 through August 2025.
